A new GoFundMe fundraiser is now launched by Claire Staples (a friend of mine), with Charles Joseph Smith as the beneficiary

This crowdfund was inspired by my forced resignation from a major church musician job I had at Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church I had for about 17 years, which earned me a quite good income—until I finished the job permanently on August 25, 2024.

Part of the proceeds from this campaign will also help me launch not another crowdfund – but my own avant-garde opera, “War of the Martian Ghosts”, possibly at the Copernicus Theater in Chicago, maybe next year, if I have a very clear schedule.

Currently, this fundraiser has raised about $1,250, and still about $18,750 in funds need to be raised to reach the goal of $20,000, but it is a very good start.

The link to this crowdfund is on this site –

Would you please help me in this suddenly trying time, because I need to keep my creativity and my joy intact still?

The Joy of Being in a New DIY Band…

Just found out that I will be the official interpretative dancer with the Chicago DIY band, PPPMMM, that consists of Nicole Miller on keyboards/electronics and Dave Purdie on drums. First major gig is going to be slated for January 18th, at Quenchers.

Quenchers is not a  secret DIY venue, so I can mention the address: 2401 W. Fullerton Ave in Chicago. Accessible by  the CTA Fullerton (#74) bus and the Western (#49) buses. There is a small cover and of course, you will need ID to go in. Found out also that another DIY band I love–ONO, will be slated to perform. I like all of those band members.

It all goes down at 9pm, but exact details on timing are TBA.
